Energy-io has been built around a clear principle: structured electrical leadership reduces risk and strengthens delivery certainty on complex energy projects.

Chris remains closely involved in major schemes, working directly with clients, network operators and equipment manufacturers to align engineering, compliance and construction strategy. Under his direction, Energy-io has established a reputation for disciplined execution and technical accountability across transmission-class renewable assets.

He works closely with clients, civil partners and supply chain to maintain programme certainty, contractual clarity and disciplined execution across each stage of delivery.

Scott is Chief Financial Officer at Energy-io and is responsible for financial governance and operational assurance across the company’s renewable energy portfolio.

With over 20 years’ experience in the electricity industry, Scott brings a strong background in distribution network operations and high-voltage safety governance. He has held Senior Authorised Person responsibilities across multiple network environments, with extensive experience supporting wind and grid-connected infrastructure projects.

At Energy-io, Scott plays a central role in transitioning projects into live HV operational environments, ensuring that authorisations, procedures and safety controls are robustly established as assets move towards energisation and commercial operation. In parallel, he oversees financial discipline, commercial reporting and internal governance structures that support the company’s continued growth.

His operational background and structured approach provide assurance across both project delivery and long-term business stability.

Principal Engineer

Rachel Fitzpatrick is Principal Engineer at Energy-io and a key member of the engineering leadership team. She leads the technical development of grid-connected renewable energy projects, with particular expertise in transmission-connected battery energy storage systems.

With over 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering, Rachel specialises in BESS system architecture, high & medium voltage integration, auxiliary systems and complex equipment interfaces. She plays a central role in the development of project tenders and detailed engineering designs, ensuring solutions are technically robust, compliant and fully buildable.

Rachel works closely with engineering, procurement and site delivery teams to align design intent with construction and commissioning strategy. Her structured, detail-driven approach provides technical assurance across complex schemes and supports seamless integration between primary equipment and balance of plant infrastructure.

Head of Engineering

Pat is Head of Engineering at Energy-io and leads the company’s engineering governance across transmission-connected renewable energy projects.

With over 20 years’ experience within transmission and distribution network environments, Pat has held senior engineering and Senior Authorised Person roles, including responsibility for protection systems, operational policy and live network integration. His background provides deep understanding of transmission standards, network operator procedures and engineering assurance within high-voltage systems.

At Energy-io, Pat provides technical leadership across major schemes, overseeing transmission interfaces, design compliance and engineering risk management. He plays a central role in managing complex stakeholder interactions, including network operators and OEMs, ensuring projects are delivered in line with operational requirements and regulatory standards.

His structured, considered approach sets the benchmark for engineering discipline across the business.

Lauren Wyllie

Head of Projects

Lauren is Head of Projects at Energy-io and leads programme management and delivery coordination across the company’s transmission-connected renewable energy portfolio.

Since joining Energy-io as a Project Manager and Sustainability Specialist, Lauren has progressed through senior project leadership roles to Head of Projects, reflecting her central role in the development and execution of complex schemes. Her background includes corporate procurement and energy-sector experience, supported by an MSc in Carbon Management.

Lauren oversees project planning, procurement coordination and delivery alignment across engineering, commercial and site functions. She plays a key role in the development of detailed tenders and structured project programmes, ensuring that technical intent, contractual requirements and construction strategy remain fully aligned.

Her disciplined, detail-driven approach provides delivery certainty across complex grid-connected infrastructure projects.

John Burns

Head of System Design

John is Head of System Design at Energy-io and leads protection and control architecture across the company’s transmission-connected renewable energy projects.

With over 30 years’ experience in the electricity industry, John has held senior protection and control roles within transmission network environments, including responsibility for commissioning and operational systems up to 400kV. His background spans protection philosophy development, relay settings, grading studies and integration of new assets into live substations.

At Energy-io, John provides technical authority across system design, ensuring that protection strategies and control schemes align fully with network standards and operational requirements. His depth of experience and measured approach bring assurance to complex projects from detailed design through energisation.

Calum Young

Lead HV Substation Engineer

Calum is Lead HV Substation Engineer at Energy-io and is responsible for primary plant design and technical specification across transmission-connected projects.

Prior to joining Energy-io, Calum held Substation Project Engineer roles within transmission network environments, delivering customer connection and reinforcement schemes across 132kV and 275kV substations. His experience spans preliminary design development, stage-by-stage diagrams, equipment specification and detailed design coordination within live network frameworks.

At Energy-io, Calum leads primary plant engineering across grid-connected renewable energy projects, ensuring designs are technically robust, compliant with network standards and aligned with construction and commissioning strategy. His structured approach and attention to detail support disciplined execution across complex HV schemes.

With a background in transmission protection and high-voltage systems, Scott has held senior engineering roles within network environments, including responsibility for protection maintenance, fault investigation and commissioning of assets up to 400kV. His experience spans scheme functionality testing, relay configuration, primary and secondary injection testing and integration of new infrastructure into live substations.

At Energy-io, Scott bridges detailed system design and site delivery, coordinating pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure safe, structured energisation. He works closely with engineering, site and client teams to align protection strategy, testing procedures and compliance requirements.

John is QEHS Manager at Energy-io and leads quality, environmental and health & safety governance across the company’s transmission-connected renewable energy projects.

A Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), John brings extensive experience across transmission and major infrastructure schemes, including substation and high-voltage projects delivered within live network environments. His background combines formal safety governance with practical, site-based understanding of complex construction activities.

At Energy-io, John ensures that robust management systems underpin project delivery, supporting safe execution and continuous improvement across all stages of work. He has played a central role in implementing the company’s integrated management systems and achieving ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation.

A degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor, David brings experience from major infrastructure and energy schemes delivered within Tier-1 contractor environments. His background spans NEC and JCT forms of contract, subcontract management, change control and financial reporting across high-value projects.

At Energy-io, David oversees commercial governance from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring contractual clarity, risk management and disciplined financial control. He works closely with operational and engineering teams to align commercial strategy with programme and delivery objectives.

Site Manager

Kevin is Site Manager at Energy-io and leads on-site delivery across transmission-connected renewable energy projects.

With over 25 years’ experience in the electricity industry, Kevin began his career as a time-served electrical and mechanical fitter before progressing into senior site management roles on high-voltage infrastructure schemes. His background includes AIS substation construction, transformer installations, HVDC infrastructure works and balance of plant delivery within live network environments up to 400kV.

At Energy-io, Kevin is responsible for coordinating construction activities, managing site teams and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications. He has led site delivery on major projects including Hagshaw Hill Wind Farm and Hams Hall BESS.

His practical expertise, structured site leadership and calm authority provide assurance across complex transmission-class projects.
